The Goodwood Aero Club to offer more authentic Aviation Adventures throughout 2011
After one of the toughest British winters for decades, the thoughts of all aviation enthusiasts are now turning to a sunny 2011 season full of blue skies and authentic aviation adventures aimed squarely at aircraft and flying fans.
The Goodwood Aero Club is uniquely placed to offer all aviation enthusiasts the opportunity to indulge their passion this year with a record number of planned activities. Aero Club members will be able to capitalise on Goodwood’s rich aviation heritage as this ex-Battle of Britain RAF station stages a huge variety of activities and adventures specifically designed to appeal to the aircraft enthusiast.
The Goodwood Aero Club was founded in 2005 to help rediscover the romance of flying in exclusive pleasure flights in vintage aircraft - including Goodwood’s own World War II Harvard - as well as aerial adventures throughout Europe. In addition to its many social events and talks today, the Goodwood Aero Club also offers its members preferential access to its brand new fleet of five state-of-the-art Cessna 172 SP Skyhawk aircraft.
However, one of the key benefits of Goodwood Aero Club membership is the special opportunity to relive heroic wartime missions with unique close-up access to the warbirds and their pilots at the Goodwood Revival (16-18 September 2011). This year the Revival will include a memorable 75th anniversary celebration of the legendary Supermarine Spitfire, with a large number of these iconic aircraft gathering at Goodwood for Aero Club members to admire at very close quarters. Goodwood Aero Club members will also have the opportunity to attend an exclusive close-up preview inspection of the celebrated concours d’elegance for rare pre-1966 aircraft in the Freddie March ‘Spirit of Aviation’ launch party at the Revival.
Other highlights of this years’ chock-a-block Goodwood Aero Club activities schedule include fly-outs to Deauville, the Duxford Air Show and the RAF Museum at Cosford, exclusive Member parties at Goodwood House and a Freddie March ‘Spirit of Aviation’ launch party, plus frequent talks and many other attractions, as summarised on the following page.
The Goodwood Aero Club is open to all aviation enthusiasts, be they pilots or land-based.
