Talk – Project Bloodhound Update

For those of you who joined us for Andy Green’s talk last year, you will be delighted to hear that he is returning to provide us with an update on how Project Bloodhound is progressing. First set in 1898, the World Land Speed Record has been held by Britain for most of the past 111 years. The record is still held by a British team today - Thrust SSC remains the only car in history to break the sound barrier, with a speed of 763 mph set in 1997. Following on from the success of Thrust, the BLOODHOUND team is now trying to create something even more challenging and remarkable. This incredible engineering project aims to inspire interest in science and engineering, particularly in schools, by sharing with them the ‘Engineering Adventure’ of building the worlds first 1,000 mph Car. As driver of the supersonic record-holding Thrust SSC, and also the confirmed driver for Project BLOODHOUND, Wing Commander Andy Green will describe the challenges of these astonishing projects, and tell you how you can help to bring the 1,000 mph record to Britain!*
