FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We all know applying for a new job can be a daunting experience, and we want to give you the best chance of making a successful application. This section has been designed to answer any questions that you might have. It contains helpful hints and tips to help you prepare for interviews and some frequently asked questions.

THE APPLICATION FORM

Can you advise me on how best to complete my application form?

Be honest. Sell yourself and ensure you complete all sections of the application form. Use the additional information section to outline your skills in relation to the requirements on the person specification.

You can complete your application form either by hand or electronically, it is your preference so we will leave this up to you to decide.

Can I send my CV instead of completing an application form?

We ask that everyone completes an application form to ensure fairness and consistency.

If I apply for a job at Goodwood, will I hear back even if I'm unsuccessful?

Yes. We review all of our applicants carefully and if you're not successful we will contact you either by email, letter or telephone to let you know. However, this does not necessarily mean the end of your application- if there are other roles you are interested in then feel free to let us know.

Could I have a copy of the job description and person specification before I complete the application form?

These documents should be included in your application pack. If you would like further information, please contact a member of the People and Development team.

I have submitted an application form, how long does it take to process?

Your application will be reviewed by the recruiting manager as soon as possible after the closing date. Applications will be shortlisted for interview. You will be contacted either by telephone or email to inform you of the outcome of your application.

INTERVIEWS

I have been invited to attend an interview, what should I do?

The key to a successful interview lies in the preperation, so it is worth doing some research before your interview takes place.  Please see our interview hints and tips.

I have been asked to attend an interview, what should I wear?

This depends on the role you are being interviewed for. We suggest you wear something appropriate for the position but also smart and comfortable.  If in doubt, please contact the People and Development team.

What if I can't make the interview date?

Whilst we make every effort to accommodate requests for alternative interview dates, unfortunately it is not always possible to do so. We do understand that it can be frustrating if we are unable to arrange another interview date, however, sometimes we are unable to delay the recruitment process as this may then affect the running of the operation.

How do I get to my interview?

We are a multi-site company and you will be advised as to the location of your interview. For directions, please see our maps and directions or contact the People and Development team.

How long will my interview last?

It all depends on what position you are applying for and the format involved. You will be advised of times and what to expect when you are invited to your interview.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

It is advisable to bring anything that you feel is necessary for the interview such as directions of where you need to go, who you are meeting, a copy of the job description and person specification etc.

The People and Development team will advise you if you are required to bring anything specific with you to your interview.
