The Goodwood Festival of Speed has historically showcased emerging and alternate technologies and the 2012 running witnessed the track debut of the Drayson Racing Technologies sports-prototype. The B12/69EV is based upon the current Lola LMP1 car and is powered completely by electricity stored in a new generation of Lithium Nanophosphate battery cells with output believed to be in the region of 850bhp.
‘Electric racing is set to transform the future of our sport and through continued advances in technology, we now have a viable alternative to fossil fuels,’ team principal Lord Drayson said. ‘The Festival of Speed attracts an outstanding number of visitors and is the perfect place for us to demonstrate our car to the public for the first time.’
