A great gift for Father’s Day

The World's Greatest Dads to be entertained at the Goodwood Festival of Speed by the World's greatest Drivers and Riders

With Father’s Day just around the corner (Sunday 19 June), Goodwood is encouraging all good sons and daughters to show just how much they appreciate their dad, by treating him to a visit to this year’s Festival of Speed and Moving Motor Show (presented by Auto Trader) being held in the spacious park land of Goodwood House from 30 June until 3 July.

The Festival of Speed is firmly established as the world’s greatest celebration of the history of motor sport. Your hero (your dad) will be able to see a huge number of his favourite motor sport heroes in action, with over 75 top drivers and riders already confirmed to be tackling Goodwood’s challenging 1.16-mile hillclimb, including F1 drivers Mark Webber, Jenson Button and Emerson Fittipaldi, rally stars Rauno Aaltonen, Jimmy McRae and Hannu Mikkola, Indy 500 legends Bobby Unser and Dario Franchitti, plus bikers Leon Haslam, Jonathan Rea, John McGuinness, Cameron Donald, Sammy Miller and Ron Chandler.

The theme of this year’s Festival is ‘Racing Revolutions – Quantum leaps that shaped motor sport’, celebrating the ceaseless quest for increased power; greater efficiency; more speed.   From motor racing’s pioneering early days, engineering ingenuity has been the irresistible force behind the sport’s inexorable rise, with designers constantly pushing technical boundaries in search of ‘the unfair advantage’.

With over 350 vehicle entries, and so many top drivers and riders expected, this year’s Festival of Speed promises something for every father’s taste:

  • Racing cars, spanning the decades from early Edwardian racing pioneers, through to at least eight current F1 teams, not forgetting legendary Le Mans endurance racers, throaty CanAm cars, current Supercars and a wealth of motorcycles.
  • World rallying heroes going sideways on the exciting Goodwood Forest Rally Stage, presented by Skoda.
  • The greatest homage to the first one hundred years of the Indy 500 race outside of the USA.
  • Stunning ‘central display’ celebrating 50 years of iconic Jaguar E-Type
  • Cartier ‘Style et Luxe’ automotive design competition, with many rare and beautiful cars
  • Air displays, including the Red Arrows.
  • A dedicated Moving Motor Show area, with the very latest cars on display for dad’s inspection, as well as a host of the newest supercars and plenty of exciting new concept cars in the FoS-TECH pavilion, many making their world debut.

Add in great live entertainment, including the GAS (Goodwood Action Sports) arena|, plus Junior Festival of Speed, and the Festival makes for the perfect summer outing, enabling the whole family to have fun, not just dad.
