Windows 7 Supercar Run

Supercars galore

The ever-popular Windows 7 Supercar Run kicked off Friday afternoon’s hillclimb action. This event within an event offers the public a chance to see some of the most powerful – and rarest – road-going machinery in action with many manufacturers using the Festival of Speed to debut new cars. Jaguar’s latest supercharged XKR-S drew plenty of attention, as did the new Bentley Continental Supersport Convertible ISR – one of 100 built to celebrate the 205.48mph ice speed record established by four-time World Rally Champion Juha Kankkunen earlier this year. Among the super-exotics, the production-ready Aston Martin One-77 (yours for a cool £1.2m) sounded glorious, as did the just launched Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. But the biggest crowd pleasers had an odd number of wheels – Italy’s Covini C6W and the profoundly British Aero Supersports. And this weekend Tesla will be doing timed runs with its electric Roadster Sport as it takes the fight to regular piston-engined rivals.
