FoS-Tech 2011

FoS-Tech exhibition in collaboration with BP Ultimate

The Goodwood Festival of Speed isn’t only about celebrating motoring and motor sport’s glorious past. The 2011 FoS-Tech exhibition in collaboration with BP Ultimate is housed in a series of geodesic domes, each with differently themed exhibits inside. By far the most dramatic looking car on show is the Chevrolet Mi-Ray, which has a 1.5-litre petrol engine driving the rear wheels and two electric motors powering the front pair. Rather more left-field is the T25 designed by Formula One legend Gordan Murray, whose resume also includes the Le Mans-winning McLaren F1 supercar. This super-small city car features a 3-cylinder 660cc engine and delivers just 86g/km CO2 emissions and 74mpg. Rather more profligate, if only in size, is the amazing Rolls-Royce 102EX. This Phantom-based saloon eschews the usual 6.75-litre V12 for two electric motors and a 71kWh battery pack. Together they generate a cool 390bhp and 590lb ft of torque. Sadly it will remain a one-off but it does offer a tantalising glimpse into the luxury car of the future.
