CanAm Spyder

Hulme CanAm Spyder

A car bearing the name of 1967 Formula One World Champion Denny Hulme is making its UK debut at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Created for road and trackday use, the Hulme CanAm Spyder is the work of New Zealand’s Hulme Supercars and features ultra-lightweight composite bodywork with F1-style high downforce-generating aerodynamics along with pushrod suspension. Powering the prototype is a mid-mounted seven-litre (427cu in) Chevrolet LS7 V8 engine, developing 600bhp. Weighing in at less than 1000kg, its makers expect the Spyder to reach speeds in excess of 200mph and be capable of sub-3.5-seconds 0-60mph times. Production will be limited to just 20 cars to ensure exclusivity.
