Lewis Hamilton McLaren MP4/2C

Formula One World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton realised a childhood ambition on Sunday by driving the ex-Alain Prost McLaren MP4/2C up the Goodwood hillclimb course. The Festival regular was joined on the hill by a raft of stars including former McLaren tester and Grand Prix veteran Nick Heidfeld in last year’s Brawn BGP 001, the course record holder visiting for the first time since 1999. “It’s nice to drive a winning car,” said the German. “Last time I was here I set the [record] fastest time. Someone was faster than us on the Saturday which we didn’t like so on the Sunday we went faster. It was quite scary!”
