Goodwood Moving Motor Show at the 2013 Festival of Speed
Following the huge success of Goodwood’s Moving Motor Show (11 July) over the past three years, the Earl of March is pleased to confirm that this ‘dynamic’ new passenger car exhibition will be held again this year as a oneday extension to the popular Festival of Speed (12-14 July).
The Moving Motor Show is held within the grounds of Goodwood Park on Thursday 11 July, as a significant addition to the annual Festival of Speed.
UK debuts and new model launches
More than 20 new car manufacturers have already confirmed their participation in the 2013 event, with all exhibition spaces sold out by the end of February. Expect to see UK debuts and new model launches from manufacturers as diverse as Skoda, Peugeot, Lexus and Porsche.
The Moving Motor Show has already established itself as the annual British Motor Show, and is now an important and regular addition to the Festival of Speed each summer, giving new car buyers the unique opportunity to enjoy an exclusive motor show preview day. Not only will they be able to see the very latest new car models on display, but in some cases also climb aboard and experience the vehicles first-hand, strictly at the prior invitation of the participating manufacturers. The cars will undertake hundreds of runs on a special evaluation route that includes the world famous Goodwood hillclimb, following in the wheel tracks of celebrated racing drivers from Sir Stirling Moss to Sebastian Vettel.
Britain’s largest automotive exhibition
The Festival of Speed has grown to become Britain’s largest annual automotive exhibition, attracting in excess of 185,000 visitors in 2012. The Supercar Run has become a key attraction at the Festival, enabling manufacturers to showcase their latest products in action. Building on this, the Festival has increasingly been used by vehicle companies to debut important new models – with over 35 appearing for the very first time in the UK in 2012. Additionally, the FoS-TECH technology zone offers manufacturers an opportunity to present their latest environmentallyconsiderate concepts.
Car manufacturers repeatedly report strong enquiry levels and actual sales as a direct result of participating at Goodwood, and this was very much the case at the Moving Motor Show.
Back in 2010, the Goodwood Moving Motor Show’s founder, Lord March hoped that this then-new exhibition would become a ‘must attend’ annual event, enabling car buyers to see and experience the latest models, as well as enabling vehicle producers the opportunity to showcase their products in a stunning setting and a relaxed environment. With the Moving Motor Show now being independently recognised as the UK’s main annual motor show, his hope has become a reality in a very short time frame.
Goodwood has firmly established itself as the best place to see the latest motoring marvels and best supercars in action, and more details about the Moving Motor Show, as well as the 2013 Festival of Speed, will be announced over the coming months.
All visitors to the 2013 Moving Motor Show will also be able to gain free access to the expanded Goodwood Aviation Exhibition, re-located this year next to the MMS, along with all of the other event attractions with Goodwood Park, including the Cartier ‘Style et Luxe’ concours d’elegance, the F1 and motorcycle paddocks, the Supercar paddock, and so on.
