A uniquely American form of motor sport received a warm reception at the profoundly British Festival of Speed, as NASCAR thunder descended on West Sussex. Kerry Earnhardt put on a typically exuberant display of tyre shredding aboard the Chevy Monte Carlo ‘stocker’ campaigned during the 1995 season by his late father, legendary seven-time series’ champion Dale ‘The Intimidator’ Earnhardt. The likable Mike Skinner was also on top form in his Red Bull Racing-liveried, 5.8-litre Toyota Camry which his team took great delight in pointing out was road legal - just not in the UK…
