Tackling the Goodwood hillclimb course this afternoon was an altogether different breed of hillclimber. The Pikes Peak category has proved a crowd favourite, with cars built specially for the Colorado venue descending on West Sussex. Undoubted stars were Edna Garvey’s rear-steering Peugeot 405T16 GR and Rod Millen’s blisteringly quick Toyota Tacoma. Former rally star and Festival regular Millen is a likely candidate for honours in tomorrow’s fastest time of day shootout, Gary Ries’ gigantic 16-litre Kenworth T2000 race truck rather less so.
