As famous drivers and riders walk along the famed red carpet walk way to the BlackRock Drivers’ Club at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (1-3 July), they will have a stunning collection of innovative and desirable supercars to potentially distract them from chatting to the race fans and signing autographs. Technically advanced sporting machines as diverse as the original Chevrolet Corvette (the world’s first mass market fibreglass sportscar), Mercedes 300SL (the first production car to use gullwing doors), Jensen FF (first use of four-wheel–drive and ABS braking in a performance car) and McLaren F1 (pioneering use of carbon fibre) will keep both the drivers and spectators alike drooling and dreaming.
