The ever-popular Sunday Times Supercar Run kicked off Friday morning’s action, Festival of Speed regulars McLaren showcasing its new MP4-12C to an appreciative audience while Citroen took to the hill with its remarkable GT, as designed originally for the Gran Turismo driver game. Small-scale British manufacturers have latterly made the event their own and the likes of Ginetta, Noble and Caparo all put on a show while German firm Ruf braved the hill with the fearsome 235mph CTR3 hypercar. Not to be outdone, Ferrari’s glorious new 458 Italia led a triumvirate of wailing Maranello machines up the hill in keeping with the event’s celebration of all things fast and Italian. The Supercar Paddock is a must-visit for anyone attending the Festival of Speed – you won’t see such an array of performance hardware anywhere else in the world.
