The Red Arrows made the first of the weekend’s ever popular Goodwood flight displays on Friday morning, running through its customarily brilliant demonstration of precision flying. With barely 30 metres between them, the pilots- which included the squad’s first-ever woman member, Flight Lieutenant Kirsty Moore - ran through the exciting Diamond, Blackbird and Delta formations before adding something special just for the Festival. The Spitfire formation honoured the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the men (and women) in red barrel-rolling into the Infinity Break at 400mph as jaws collectively slackened on terra firma. Remarkable stuff!
