Goodwood Voted One Of Top 50 UK Golfing Venues
Goodwood enters an exciting new chapter in its distinguished history having been voted one of the Top 50 “Stay and Play Venues” in the UK by Golf Monthly magazine, the most authoritative and definitive guide to first class golf in Britain.
The prestigious club was voted 27th in the UK by senior editorial staff at Golf Monthly and a group of well travelled golf writers and was the only West Sussex Club to feature in the rankings and just one of four to feature throughout Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire.
Golf Monthly which celebrates its centenary this year started out the evaluation process with more than 100 venues to assess before whittling it down to 75 and then the final and finest Top 50 venues in the UK with the aim to supply readers with ideas for their next golfing getaway.
The strict judging criteria included five key categories: quality of the layout including test, design, condition, presentation and visual appeal, quality of the hotel, activities and facilities, ambience and finally, value for money.
Golf At Goodwood has enjoyed an outstanding season of golfing accolades having also been voted by Golf World Magazine as one of the Top 100 Courses in England, a significant feat considering there are 1,950 courses in the country. The club was also recognised for its cuisine receiving an award for “the tastiest golf club food” by the 59Club, the independent golf analysis business that measures service at most of the leading golf venues in the country.
Stuart Gillett, General Manager at Golf At Goodwood said: “Everyone here at Goodwood is delighted with the award and recognition from Golf Monthly. Both the Downs and Park Course have been in outstanding condition from tee to green this season and we intend to maintain this high standard throughout the winter months”.
