Thursday 14th August
On Thursday 14th August, players took part in the Team Goodwood Challenge. This was a stableford event, with the best two from four scores to count. All men played from the white and yellow tees (nine of each), and ladies played from the blue and red tees (nine of each). Each team were able to decide when they would like to play from different tees, as long as nine holes were played from both.
The Goodwood Twist
This event had a unique twist to it. Leading up to the event, as part of a silent auction, golfers were able to bid to play with a Goodwood Professional or member of staff of their choice.
The Junior Programme
100% of all bids went straight to the Junior programme which will help support the budding young golfers with match fees, uniforms, competition entries etc.
1st place: Congratulations to the team of Andy Brown (Carol Smith, Stephanie Upton-Prowse and Maggie Hedley), who scored a remarkable 92 points to be crowned the Team Goodwood champions.
2nd place: Finishing just 2 points shy, with another fantastic display, were the team of Christian Fogden (Rosemary Hoare, Moira Siddons and Chris Maultby), who recorded 90 points.
3rd place: On 90 points was the team of Kevin Garwood (Simon Spicer, Stephen Smith and Paul Brennan), another stunning display of golf.
Overall, the Team Goodwood Challenge was a great success, raising £1,800 for the junior section. This will support the young golfers match fees, uniforms and competition entries, so thank you to all that took part in this project.
With the popularity of this event, it may well be that this becomes an annual meeting. A fantastic day, all round.
