Goodwood House offers the perfect location for Days out out in West Sussex and visits by groups. Set in the heart of the idyllic Sussex Downs the picturesque Goodwood Estate provides a stunning backdrop to the glorious Regency House, still lived in by the Earl and Countess of March and their family.

A group tour of the richly coloured State Apartments offers visitors on days out in west sussex an unique insight into the history of Goodwood House, which has been the family home of the Dukes of Richmond for over 300 years. Our knowledgeable and friendly guides, each with their own individual flair, will provide a memorable guided tour featuring the novelty of the Egyptian Dining Room and the glamour of the Yellow Drawing Room. As your group enjoys the wonderful collection of art, the guides will illuminate the extraordinary lives of the Dukes of Richmond.


open days

Open Days (most Sunday and Monday afternoons in season) - from £7.50 per head

Hour long guided tours of the State Apartments commence at 1.20pm, 1.45pm, 2.15pm, 2.45pm, 3.15pm and 4pm. The charge for a group of more than 20 is £7.50 per head (normal price £9.00). a Perfect option if looking for Day out out in West Sussex 


Monday open day mornings

Your group may be the only one in the House and will have the unique opportunity of seeing the State Apartments and the magnificent art collection without the presence of the general public, thus benefiting from a specialist guided tour by one of our highly trained Guides. The cost is £9.00 per head (minimum 20). Morning coffee and biscuits can be served for your group, at £2.50 per head, which makes for a splendid start to your visit. On a Connoisseurs' Day

Connoisseurs’ Days present the ultimate way to enjoy the glorious collection at Goodwood House. The 2009 dates are 17 March, 18 May and 21 October. These days are intended for special arts groups and are extremely popular. To avoid disappointment we urge you to contact the Curator’s Secreatary (01243 755048) as soon as you have decided on a date, as places are limited and on a first come first served basis. The Curator, James Peill, will normally be on hand to give your group an introduction or short talk in certain rooms. On a Connoisseurs’ Day there is also the option of visiting the fascinating 18th century Shell House for a further £4.00 per head which is not normally open to the general public. The cost for a group of a minimum of 20 people is from £10.00 per head for a specialist guided tour which lasts for approximately 90 minutes. We can serve a delicious afternoon tea after the tour of £3.00 per person or morning coffee and biscuits on arrival for £2.50 per person (dependent on your time of visit).

Normally the House is fully booked with events and functions. It is, however, occasionally possible at under 2 weeks notice to fit in a group of minimum 20 people for a guided tour at £9.00 per head.

Tours are also available in French, Italian, German and Japanese (advance notice and pre-booking required)


School Visits

Schools looking for perfect educational days out in west sussex, Goodwood House is ideal! The House aims to promote life-long learning and offers a wide range of educational opportunities for students of all ages from primary to secondary, through undergraduate and graduate, and up to adults and mature students. Education occurs by means of both guided tours and activities. While the House naturally lends itself to the study of art, history and architecture, the Home Farm and Seeley Copse Nature Trail, both situated on the Estate, offer learning opportunities in the fields of science (earth science, biology, natural science, zoology), geography, technology and sculpture.
