Goodwood House offers the perfect location for days out in West Sussex and visits by groups (20 people plus). Set in the heart of the idyllic Sussex Downs the picturesque Goodwood Estate provides a stunning backdrop to the glorious Regency House, still lived in by the Earl and Countess of March and their family.
A group tour of the richly coloured State Apartments offers visitors a unique insight into the history of Goodwood House, which has been the family home of the Dukes of Richmond for over 300 years. Our knowledgeable and friendly guides, each with their own individual flair, will provide a memorable guided tour featuring the novelty of the Egyptian Dining Room and the glamour of the Yellow Drawing Room. As your group enjoys the wonderful collection of art, the guides will illuminate the extraordinary lives of the Dukes of Richmond.
Delicious afternoon teas, pre-booked, are also served in the Regency Ballroom.
open days - groups of 20+
Groups of 20 or more people can be booked on our Open Days to view the House and State Apartments. The House is open most Sunday and Monday afternoons, from 1pm to 5pm, between 16 March – 13 October, and Sunday – Thursday afternoons between 3 – 28 August.
The charge for a group of more than 20 is £9.00 per head (normal price £9.50). A perfect option if your group is looking for a day out in West Sussex.
Monday open day mornings
Your group may be the only one in the House and will have the unique opportunity of seeing the State Apartments and the magnificent art collection without the presence of the general public, thus benefiting from a specialist guided tour by one of our highly trained Guides. The cost is £12.00 per head (minimum 20). Morning coffee and biscuits can be served for your group, at £3.50 per head or coffee and pastries for £5.00 per head, which makes for a splendid start to your visit. For 2014 opening times please see Opening Times.
On a Connoisseurs' Day
Connoisseurs’ Days present the ultimate way to enjoy the glorious collection at Goodwood House. The 2014 dates are 13 May and 2 September. These days are intended for special arts groups and are extremely popular. To avoid disappointment we urge you to contact the Curator’s Assistant (01243 755012) as soon as you have decided on a date, as places are limited. The Curator, James Peill, will normally be on hand to give your group an introduction or short talk in certain rooms. On a Connoisseurs’ Day there is also the option of visiting the fascinating 18th century Shell House which is not normally open to the general public for an extra £5.00 per head. The cost for a group of a minimum of 20 people is £12.00 per head for a specialist guided tour which lasts for approximately 90 minutes. We can serve a delicious afternoon tea in the Ballroom after the tour from £6.00 per person or morning coffee and biscuits on arrival for £3.50 or with pastries for £5.00 per person (dependent on your time of visit).

Normally the House is fully booked with events and functions. It is, however, occasionally possible at under 4 weeks notice to fit in a group of minimum 20 people for a guided tour at £12.00 per head.
