August Bank Holiday Weekend
Friday 22 - Sunday 24 August 2014
We've got a classic treat lined up for you this August Bank Holiday as we once again rekindle the nostalgic Summer Holidays of yesteryear, with three days of magnificent racing as well as heaps of family entertainment.
FRIDAY EVENING RACING & FIREWORKS to music
Following racing on the Friday night there will be a spectacular fireworks display to music that will start at approximately 8.45-9pm. This is something not to be missed as we welcome a company that has won awards the world over, including designing and supplying the fireworks at Buckingham Palace for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Get set for many an "ohhhhh" and "ahhhhh!"
FUN FOR the little ones
Throughout the three days we’ve got a fantastic choice of traditional 1950s entertainment planned to ensure the whole family has a great time. There’s an old-fashioned funfair with a Helter-Skelter, Big Wheel, Chair o' Planes, Gallopers and Swing Boats, as well as a replica beach front complete with beach huts and sandcastles.
Children will also love getting their face painted, getting lost in the windbreak maze and being entertained and educated at the 'Kids Love The Races' roadshow.*
What's more all rides and entertainment are free, as are accompanied children under 18.
Putting on the style
We’d love to see you dressed in a jaunty little ‘50s number – so dust off those dapper double-breasted suits, fab floral swing skirts, lacy gloves and Brylcreem. But whatever you decide to wear, be it vintage Dior or 21st Century Chanel, please remember that jeans and shorts are a definite no-no in the Richmond Enclosure - usual dress code applies, where jackets and ties must be worn.
MUSIC TO WATCH GIRLS GO BY
The soundtrack to August Bank Holiday will be provided by a host of great musical acts, including the ever popular 'Rockin' the Joint' Rock n' Roll Band, who will be performing a full set in the Gordon Enclosure following the last race each day.
There will be jazz in the Gordon Enclosure during the afternoon, and a string quartet will be playing in the Richmond Enclosure, playing a repertoire that includes modern classics from Queen, Madness, Coldplay Elvis and Snow Patrol.
Get those dancing shoes at the ready...
Tickets are terrific value and start at just £10 with accompanied children under 18 going free. Also, make sure you take advantage of the free return shuttle bus that runs from Chichester Railway Station to the racecourse each day.
