Opening Ceremony

Glorious Goodwood 2012 got underway with the Blessing of the Cups and included a total of three Group contests. The feature race of Day 1 was the £140,000 bet365 Lennox Stakes (Group 2), which was run over 7f for horses aged three and over.

The day’s other highlights included the bet365 Gordon Stakes (Group 3, 1m 4f) and the bet365 Molecomb Stakes (Group 3), contested over 5f.

Following racing, there was a Racing XI vs. Lord’s Taverners cricket match, with Marcus Armytage, Nick Gifford and Andrew Balding amongst those representing the racing industry for this event.
