Ladies’ Day
Day 3 of Glorious Goodwood saw the ladies taking centre stage. This was the perfect day to show off your new glamorous outfit and dress to impress with friends and colleagues. Following on from the success of the inaugural Magnolia Cup in 2011, Goodwood Racecourse once again hosted the exciting Celebrity Ladies’ Charity Race in aid of Spinal Research| and Winston’s Wish|.
The Magnolia Cup supported by Audi will kicked off Ladies’ Day with a bang as an array of high-profile names took on the roles of jockeys, designers and team supporters. Supermodel Edie Campbell rode Harrodian Hotshot to victory in last year’s race and she returning in 2012 aiming to defend her title but could not withstand the pace of eventual winner and leading jewellery designer Philippa Holland who rode to victory on Russian Bullet, trained by Jamie Osborne.
In addition to Edie Campbell, the jockeys that took part in this innovative race included Radio1 DJ Sara Cox, Channel 4 racing Presenter Emma Spencer, model Rosemary Ferguson, racing celebrity Francesca Cumani and pop singer Jade Williams. The Ladies alll wore bespoke racing silks specially created by renowned fashion designers and models including Kate Moss, Sadie Frost, Luella Bartley, Bella Freud, Jasmine Guinness, and Amanda Wakeley.
The day’s feature race was the Artemis Goodwood Cup (Group 2) and we invited you to join us in celebrating 200 years since it was first run in 1812. Contested over 2 miles and part of the British Champions Series, this historic race has seen many classic encounters.
