Chris Evans keeps the party going at Goodwood
Friday 10th June was another triumphant evening for Goodwood as Chris Evans took to the stage for the second of the Three Friday Nights; three nights of evening racing followed by dancing and music from international DJs.
Despite the pouring rain Chris Evans kept the dance floor filled and the racecourse alight with his fantastic DJ set after the last race had finished at 9pm. The Goodwood operations team operated a flawless undertaking of transforming the parade ring into a dance floor in just 20 minutes, a task which has never been seen at a racecourse before!
Chris was flown in for the gig from London by helicopter to the Goodwood Aerodrome straight from presenting on The One Show.
Over 9,000 people flocked through the gates on the evening to be entertained by the legendary Radio 2 presenter, even Lord March joined Chris behind the decks to welcome the dancers to the racecourse.
The Three Friday nights finale taking place this Friday (17th June) is set to be even bigger and better. Nearly 8,000 people have booked tickets to see Mark Ronson display his infamous DJ talent. Richmond Enclosure tickets are close to selling out and there is an expected attendance of 10,000.
Although many racecourses have well known bands playing after racing, Goodwood has broken the trend by introducing international DJs to perform. The evening proved to be a huge success and has confirmed just how strong the racing and music link can be.
Marketing Manager of Goodwood Racecourse Bradley Eccleshare said: “We were blown away by the crowds here on Friday night, despite the pouring rain they were all dancing right up until the end. Chris Evans did a superb job of keeping everyone in high spirits. The attendance was up on last Friday night and we expect it to be even bigger for this week with Mark Ronson. We strongly recommend buying your tickets in advance to avoid any disappointment on the evening.”
Grammy-award winning Mark Ronson’s DJ talents have made him a favourite among the inner circle of Hollywood’s elite. He also creates his own music and has collaborated with some of the most innovative people in the music industry. Known for his diverse, genre-spanning selection, his songs have appeared on a myriad of commercials, television shows and movies.
