The Festival of Speed is now the biggest motoring event of its type in the world, attracting over 150,000 people in 2006. It celebrates cars from the earliest steam carriages to the latest F1 cars. Racing cars and bikes come from all over the world and this is the only event outside the Grand Prix circuit attended by many of the current Formula 1 teams. They enjoy a relaxing weekend at the Festival of Speed, so you can expect to see a lot of the top cars in close up. You can also mingle with the heroes of yesterday and today, from Sir Stirling Moss to Jenson Button, and many more. You will never get closer to the most famous cars and personalities from motor racing’s past and present. The Times described the Festival as “The Garden Party of the Gods”, while the Daily Telegraph has called it “The Greatest Show on Earth”. The hospitality facilities
provide a unique and mesmerising mix of close-up motorsport action
and exceptional personal entertaining
opportunities. Carefully styled pavilions offer bespoke, creative
menus in a light and airy summer atmosphere, so you can combine
a little luxury with a lot of thrills. |

The Festival takes place over three days and runs from 9.00am to 6.00pm each day. Gates open at 7.00am. Friday sees all the cars try out the hill for the first time. This is a relaxing day for the enthusiast and a chance to feast the eyes on a dazzling collection of cars and bikes and to explore the enormous range of exhibitions: a Motor Show in its own right! Saturday is the official practice day. Two hundred of the rarest racing cars and motorcycles are put through their paces on two practice runs up the hill. Sunday sees action in earnest against the clock as competitors
battle for class and outright awards. The Red Arrows often add
to the excitement with dramatic aerobatics. |
