Goodwood Breakfast Club
On Sunday 5 June, the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit shook to the rumble of limitless horsepower, as the post 1970 sports, performance and GT cars wowed the crowds of knowledgeable enthusiasts, most of whom by now were making their monthly visit to the well-established Goodwood Breakfast Club. The Breakfast Club has become a magnet to car lovers – and food lovers, too, with the Pit Lane diner serving scrumptious breakfasts, ably backed up by food and drink concessions scattered around the course.
TVRs were featured at the event and four hundred TVR Car Club members brought their cars to Goodwood for a gathering the day before and most staying to enjoy the Sunday morning atmosphere.
There was much more to this Goodwood Breakfast Club than TVR’s, though. How about a rumbustious Mini pickup with a V8 engine in the load bed, another Mini with a high-powered motor cycle engine, or the Citroen 2CV special that, though narrowed eyes, looked like a Ferrari Testa Rossa? The variety of cars on the day was astonishing, with the likes of modern Ultimas, Crossbow, Ariel and Radical, with the more traditional Aston Martins, Ferraris, Jaguars, Triumphs, Lancias, Alfa Romeos, MGs, Porsches, BMWs and many others. Our thanks go to all the owners for bringing along your cars for others to enjoy.
There will be no Goodwood Breakfast Club next month, as we hope that you will all be at the Festival of Speed. We will look forward to seeing you again on Sunday 7 August, when the theme will be “Pre 1966 cars.” That was England’s World Cup year, so any car, of any type, with a “C” suffix or earlier is welcome. The last couple of Breakfast Clubs have been for newer cars - now let’s have a great day with the old timers! Remember, we don’t like to leave anyone out, so owners of newer cars are also most welcome to join us and to add to the wonderful Goodwood atmosphere.
All Breakfast Club meetings are free to attend, and are staged from 8:00hrs to midday. Goodwood encourages Breakfast Club visitors to register their intention to visit the monthly event to gauge numbers and vehicle types, by registering your vehicle. Don’t miss out - if your vehicle matches the theme for the particular month's Breakfast Club, you may even be selected to park it on the grid, where your pride and joy will be admired and envied by fellow Breakfast Clubbers.
