The RAC TT Celebration grid will be graced with one of the most spectacular GT cars of all time at this year’s Goodwood Revival, when the reconstruction of the Maserati Tipo 151/3 makes its racing debut.
Using the engine, transmission and brakes from the original 1964/5 Le Mans car, the car is clothed in the Drogo designed body created by Allegretti, who built the original on the very same buck that the Maserati factory used in period.
With its thundering 5 litre, fuel-injected V8, the streamlined monster should be spectacularly rapid in a straight line, but may need some taming through the Goodwood Motor Circuit’s challenging corners. The car will be piloted by owner Barrie Baxter, and Le Mans and Grand Prix winner, Jochen Mass.
