Goodwood has a rich and varied link with aviation, having been a key Battle of Britain airfield and Supermarine Spitfire base during World War 2. The current Earl of March’s grandfather, Freddie March, was also a keen aviator and designed and built his own aircraft during the 1930s. He’s being honoured in the fourth running of the Freddie March Spirit of Aviation concours, with aircraft such as the high-wing 1955 Percival Pembroke and the sole remaining operational 1935 Hawker Fury biplane among the major draws. Another highlight, not to be missed, is the 1938 Waco YKS-7 cabin biplane, the only example known in the UK.
