Last weekend’s 2011 Goodwood Revival proved to be a true shopper’s paradise with the 310 Revival High Street and Revival Market stands reporting record sales
Exhibitors came from as far afield as Argentina and Canada, with around 40 percent offering motoring-related products and services, and the remainder selling vintage clothing, accessories, food and other Revival-era goods.
Customers were cueing in the authentic early 1960s Tesco supermarket recreation to buy favourite brands of old, including Marathon bars, Treats and Double Diamond pale ale. Vintage fashion specialists, including What Katie Did, Vivien of Holloway and Biba, also aroused huge interest from the Revival race goers.
The salesroom for the traditional Friday evening Bonhams auction of classic vehicles and automobilia was packed, with Revival auction final sales totaling over £6.5million. One of the classic car dealers displaying at the event also sold eight cars during the weekend.
Many of this year’s Revival Market exhibitors have already re-signed for next year, as this area usually sells out within two months of going on sale. For 2012 plans are already in place to extend the Revival Market site to enable an additional 50 exhibitors to attend, so meet the large demand.
As Lorraine Freeman from Revival exhibitor Eye-Spy-Vintage says, “What a fabulous weekend!! I am hooked!! Please let me book for next year. Made many lovely friends, and I have told all and sundry what a wonderful event it all was and am I going to be a regular I am sure!!
