King Edward VII was Goodwood Racecourse’s greatest fan, referring to it fondly ‘as a garden party with racing tacked on’. In May this year it will be 100 years since King Edward VII died and Lord March would like to remember him by holding a celebratory Garden Party on the first day of the new season, 1 May. Racegoers will be able to enjoy ‘complimentary’ entry to the Gordon and Lennox Enclosures and attend a party any monarch would have been proud to host. As well as seven races there will be a wealth of entertainment, but even more importantly for newcomers to racing they will be greeted by dozens of hosts, tipsters, actors and entertainers who will be welcoming racegoers and engaging with them in a humorous and informal way.
