After a major restoration, the Grade 1 listed building has been restored to its Georgian glory with modern, comfortable interiors which reflect Goodwood’s eclectic British style – classic design with a contemporary edge. Within The Kennels itself there is a restaurant with outdoor terraces, a bar, drawing room, a large meeting room with state of the art equipment, and private dining room, as well as locker rooms. Membership of The Kennels is all about enjoying real food in a relaxed and wonderful place, surrounded by family, friends and like-minded people. Just over 200 years ago, in the age of enlightenment, the 3rd Duke of Richmond built a grand kennels in the very latest architectural style, so that his beloved hounds could live in extraordinary comfort, and enjoy both wonderful feasts and glorious scenery. To fulfil his desire to create an equally enlightened and special place on the Estate at Goodwood, where one can enjoy great food and good company in an inspiring setting, Lord March established The Kennels. Open all year round, seven days a week, the bar, restaurant and private dining room features local, seasonal food with premium organic beef, lamb and pork from Goodwood’s organic Home Farm, and herbs from the restored walled kitchen garden. As an exciting and unique addition to the experience, The Kennels is home to Ralph Lauren’s first clubhouse shop in Europe. The fashion sensibilities of Goodwood’s members are met by the unique Ralph Lauren collection of men’s and women’s sportswear, whilst the shop itself creates a stunning luxury environment sympathetic to the history and heritage of The Kennels. The 2008 annual membership fee for The Kennels is £160 and this includes use of and access to all the facilities as well as the Ralph Lauren shop. With its great food, wonderful art, supreme comfort and serene rural setting, The Kennels is truly a feast for the senses. |
